Membership
Joining BristolATC has never been so easy, so read on for your passport to joining the finest virtual aviation community available.

To join you must first register your interest by submitting your details to BristolATC - click the register link near the log-in section on the website www.bristol-atc.com.

Once registered and accepted, which takes 24 hours, you will go through what we call the “Pilot Evaluation Flight” or “PEF”.

We’ve changed the way we host our PEF flights, so instead of having to wait for a dedicated Pilot Evaluation session you can now get evaluated and approved during any “Open Session”.

To check when we host the Open Sessions, see the Events Calendar.

Before making your decision to become part of BristolATC, you need to know whether you can adequately:-

Control the aircraft
Takeoff and land proficiently
Fly airfield circuits
Track VORs
Use an Instrument Landing System (ILS)
Ideally, in addition to the above, you need to be able to demonstrate that you can:-

Use the radio to communicate with air traffic control
Be realistic with your communications with ATC
Read-back instructions to ATC
Keep unnecessary communications to a minimum

Step-By-Step Instructions to Joining
1. Click the “Register” link in the Log-In area of the web site and submit your details online. Use your GameSpy ID as your username.

2. Check your email account, you’ll have a BristolATC email in your inbox. Open it, and click the link provided. This will confirm your email address with us is valid and is required to continue.

3. Wait 24 hours – One of our administrators will enable your account and activate your new membership with BristolATC. You’ll receive another email once your account is ready to go, after which point you can sign in.

4. Get practicing with your takeoffs, landings, ILS approaches, VOR tracking and generally polish up your aviation skills whilst you wait for the next Open Session and your evaluation day.

5. Attend the PEF at the Open Session within one month of registerin.

6. Once in session, contact Bristol Tower on 133.85 and make the controller aware that you are attending your Pilot Evaluation Flight.

7. The controller will guide you from this point – follow his or her instructions and ensure you read-back everything that is instructed to you.

8. Enjoy the PEF session, it is in place to test your knowledge and skills, but try instead to think of it as a great opportunity to join the best virtual aviation community available.

9. Once you’ve completed the PEF, landed and parked up, you will then be advised on your success or failure.

10. If successful, well done and welcome – we’ll upgrade your web site account as soon as the session finishes and then you’ll have full access to the web site and all the relevant information you will need.

Use the same username and password you originally gave us when you registered your interest with BristolATC to gain full access to the site.

We remind new members and existing members at this stage NEVER to give out session passwords to anyone, including other BristolATC members. Remember that all the information our members need is available on this web site after log-in, so there is no need to give information outside of the site.
